As per 1 January 2017, the TU Delft Executive Board has appointed the current acting dean, Professor Lucas van Vliet, as dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences (AS).
Professor Lucas van Vliet was appointed Antoni van Leeuwenhoek professor in 1999, has been the head of the Quantitative Imaging research group since 2009 and is the chairman of the department of Imaging Physics. Alongside his main position in Delft, he is Professor of Quantitative Imaging at the Faculty of Science at Leiden University. Furthermore, he is the chairman of the Delft Health Initiative as well as of Medical Delta’s programme council.
Since studying Applied Physics in Delft (graduated 1988) Professor Van Vliet has worked as a researcher in the field of image analysis. He is the (co-)author of well over 200 scientific publications.
