Optics Research Group
The Optics Research Group (Optica in Dutch) is specialized in electromagnetic wave theory and imaging techniques operating in both near and far-field region and has one of the longest histories of research in Delft.
Ranging from Extreme UV wavelengths to the Terahertz frequency band, we cover a large range of research topics that have applications in many advanced technologies.
Our Research facilities include various experimental set-ups (clean room) and parallel computing capabilities via a linux server. In addition, the group has access to many commercial software packages and has develloped over the years a large variety of home-made software tools tackling specific research simulation problems.
The Optics Research Groups has a strong international network in optics and is strongly involved in:
- SMETHODS: Fp7 Support Action on Training in Optical Design for European SME's (together with Institut d'Optique Paris, University of Jena, Free University Brussels, University of Eastern Finland, ITMO Univerity St. Petersburg and Polytechnical University of Madrid. Optics group of TUDelft is coordinator).
- Erasmus Mundus Master Programme (OpSciTech): together with Instut d'Optique (Paris), University of Jena,University of Eastern Finland (Joensuu), Imperial College London and the Technical University Warchau. You can download the flyer.
- European Optical Society (EOS), our professor, Paul Urbach being the actual president of the Society.

Internally, we are involved in several education courses .
We are an international group consisting of 6 staff members, 6 post-docs,10 PhD students, 10 master students, and 5 technical supports originating from 12 countries. Join us!
