Clouds & Climate

Clouds play a crucial role in Climate

The response of couds in a changing climate is one of the most pressing unknowns (see the IPCC report).

  • Objective: Fundamental research on cloud dynamics and cloud microphysics to improve parameterizations in weather and climate models.
  • Methodology: Detailed numerical simulation, laboratory experiments, analysis of aircraft, and satellite observations.

Air Quality

Particulate Matter (Fine Dust) is recently recognized as a major threat to public health

  • Objective: Develop computational methods to predict atmospheric dispersion in urban areas. The focus is on street scale.
  • Methodology: Detailed numerical simulation, laboratory experiments, CFD
