Abstract 10 June 2015

Do We Really Understand Quantum Mechanics?

Franck Laloë

Quantum theory allows for some weird and very counter-intuitive effects: a cat that is dead and alive at the same time, non-locality, entanglement. How do you deal with that? Since the beginning of quantum theory, thousands of papers have been written on the subject, dozens of proposals have been put forward, ranging from hidden variable theories to many world theories. None of these interpretations is satisfactory. The discussion of these interpretations is the subject of Franck Laloë’s book. In the seminar he will give a historical review  and discuss a few possible interpretations (standard, Copenhagen, Bohm, GRW, Everett).
