Information for students
In the new Bachelor-Master structure it is important to gain practical experience during the programme at the level of a graduated engineer. The internship is required for every student (with a few exceptions). It is possible to do the internship in the Netherlands or abroad. The choice of an organisation depends on the chosen degree programme; for some programmes it is possible to do the internship at an independent research institute.
LST students
Life Science and Technology students may complete their internships in a related field, such as scientific journalism, communication, marketing, etc.
AP students
Applied Physics students may complete their internships at foreign universities and academic research institutes.
CE students
Internships for Chemical Engineering students must be hands-on.
Internship goal
The main goal of doing an internship is to become experienced working within a relevent work environment on a level of a professional engineer. Internships therefore have to have a technical “character”.
Blackboard
All student information about finding and doing an internship can be found on the Internship Blackboard page. Also all available projects are listed on the Internship Blackboard page. This is due to any possible confidential information concerning the assignment.

Student societies cooperation
The TNW Internship Office works hard to maintain contact with businesses offering internships. We also work closely with the student societies (LIFE,TG, VvTP). Keep an eye on their websites for information about Master’s information fairs, excursions, readings, etc.
Non-EU students
Since November 2006 non EU students do not need a work permit for an industrial internship as long as they meet the following criteria:
- the student has a valid residence permit;
- the student is registered as a Master’s student at TU Delft;
- the industrial internship is a required part of the Master’s programme.
