Huntsman Design Challenge won by Durgesh Kawale and Vipul Khosla (ChemE/CE)

07 November 2011 by M&C/ChemE

The MSc students Chemical Engineering Durgesh Kawale and Vipul Khosla won the Huntsman Design Challenge (€1000) at the Netherlands Process Technology Symposium NPS11 held from 24 to 26th of October at Papendal (Arnhem).

Among the three nominated teams they presented a design considered by the jury as most innovative and promising. This year's assignment was to design a process for the separation of MDA from an MDA/water/aniline mixture. This separation is since many years a major challenge for the industry and a rough calculation on the proposed design indicated that implementation at the Huntsman production plant could result in savings of over € 2 M per year.
