One Master’s in Science Communication and seven new teachers
09 September 2010 by M&C TNW/SECIt was a very mixed group of students that graduated from the Science Communication Master’s degree course on 27 August 2010. Lei Li is the first international student to qualify as a science communication specialist, having set up a communication plan for the use of a newly developed training simulator for dentists during her research.

Standard course
Three new physics teachers, Wim van Son, Igor Serov and Rutger Ockhorst, two mathematics teachers, Maud van der Put and Cor Willem Buizert, chemistry teacher Eddy Verbeek, and computer science teacher Ron Smiers were all presented with their degree certificate. It is notable that only one of the new teachers followed a standard course, gaining his Master’s in Applied Physics less than a year ago before going on to obtain the teaching qualification.
Careers
The other graduates already have first careers behind them and chose to enter a second, as teachers in higher education. This was very hard work, they found, as in many cases they were combining their course work with their school jobs.
