First BioProduct designers graduate
27 November 2009 by M&COn 24 November, the first graduates of the new BioProduct Design degree programme received their degree certificates and the academic title of Professional Doctorate in Engineering.
This trainee programme was started in September 2007 to offer Life Science & Technology graduates thorough preparation for a career in industry. The programme has been developed in conjunction with various biotech industries and these have shown their appreciation of the graduates in a concrete manner: all PDEng graduates had already found jobs prior to graduation.
Diverse projects
The BioProduct Design projects vary from evaluating opportunities for Life Sciences-based patents for analysis methods to the practical implementation of new biotechnology products. The projects’ common element is that they involve designing products based on or related to living systems. Design in this field has so far garnered little attention, but fast-moving scientific developments combined with demand from industry led to TU Delft setting up this degree programme.
