On 31 May prof. J.E. Mooij of the Kavli Institute of Nanoscience will receive an honorary doctorate at the Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige university (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway.

Hans Mooij is being distinguished for, among other things, his advice on nanoscientific research policy at the NTNU. Mooy is also the founder of the Kavli Institute of Nanoscience Delft, which is sponsored by Fred Kavli, an alumnus of the university of Trondheim. Under the direction of Hans Mooij the research of the Kavli Institute is increasingly focusing on nano-electronics, with special attention for the relationship with chemistry and biology.

The day prior to the presentation of the honorary doctorate a symposium on nanotechnology is being held in Trondheim.

Alongside Hans Mooij the actress Liv Ullman will also be presented with an honorary doctorate of the University of Trondheim.
