Marc Kea wins FOM anniversary competition ''Win the future''
24 November 2006 by TNWToday | M&CMarc Kea, graduating student of Prof. L.J.van Vliet, sectie Quantitative Imaging, afdeling Imaging Science & Technology, and technician Henk Groenstege, both from the FOM Institute for Subatomic Physics (NIKHEF) in Amsterdam, won the FOM anniversary competition on 20 November 2006 with their project ''RasClic: a new seismograph''.

Tini Veltman presents award to Marc Kea
Kea and Groenstege propose using optical instead of mechanical measurement techniques for seismological surveys. Their idea is to take an existing technology for the extremely precise alignment of devices over enormous distances and make it suitable for seismographs. Nobel Prize winner Prof. Tiny Veltman presented the award, which is personnel costs for half a year plus 10,000 euros material expenses for implementing the plan.
