Microsoft and Leo Kouwenhoven (QN) to cooperate in development of quantum computing
03 June 2011 by Webredactie-TNWIn the framework of the Industrial Partner Programme (IPP), Microsoft and FOM are both investing a million euros in research into components for quantum computers. Over the next two years, Spinoza Award winner Prof. Leo Kouwenhoven and his group will use the money to develop artificial particles with exotic properties that can be used as the bits of a future quantum computer. The particles arise under certain conditions on chips with nanostructures.
Leo was approached last year in connection with his articles about exotic quantum states and very fine indium arsenide needles in Science and Nature (2006).
