Minister Verhagen opens green – biobased – children’s playhouse on Floriade expo
11 June 2012 by M&CBy turning potato peels into bioplastics together with a class of school children, Minister Verhagen oopened the Biobased Kidshouse on the World Horticultural Expo in Venlo (NL) on 4 June 2012. All parts of the green children’s playhouse have been made out of natural resources such as agricultural waste, hemp, tree bark or potato peels.
The fully reusable house is an initiatieve of the public-private consortium BE-Basic, a collaboration between government, knowledge institutions and industry in the area of the biobased economy. TU Delft coordinates the consortium. The house is located in the exhibition pavilion of the Dutch government ‘My Green World’.

Children can play inside the house, but also learn all about oil and replacing oil by more sustainable
materials.
