Prof. Lieven Vandersypen appointed member of the KHWM
12 July 2012 by M&C Applied SciencesProf. Lieven Vandersypen, Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Professor at TU Delft’s Kavli Institute of Nanoscience, has been appointed as a member of the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW), whose aim it is to promote science and bridge the gap between science and society.
Dual structure
The Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities is the oldest "Learned Society" in the Netherlands and was established in 1752 as the Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities, with the aim of promoting science in the broadest sense. It has a dual structure, consisting of approximately equal numbers of directors (promoters from the business community and politics, for example, who are interested in science) and members (active scholars). The new members will be installed on 23 September 2012.
