Prof. Tim van der Hagen (R3) appointed member Dutch Energy Council
29 June 2010 by M&C TNW/R3Minister Van der Hoeven (Economic Affairs) has appointed Professor Tim van der Hagen to the Dutch Energy Council. The Energy Council (in Dutch Algemene Energieraad, or AER) is an independent advisory body that advises the government and parliament on energy policy in the broadest sense. The members of the Council – never more than ten – are not elected, but appointed by Royal Decree. They are personally invited to join based on expertise, social awareness and experience. The appointment of Professor Tim van der Hagen will take effect from 1 August 2010.
Curriculum Vitae
Professor Tim van der Hagen (b.1959) is director of the Reactor Institute Delft, chairman of the Delft Energy Initiative and acting dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences. He is full professor of Reactor Physics and chairman of the department of Radiation, Radionuclides & Reactors.
Energy
He is also Scientific Director of the 3TU Centre for Sustainable Energy Technology, chairman of the Excellence Cluster on Energy of the IDEA League, board member of the Netherlands Research Platform for Sustainable Energy Supply, energy representative on behalf of the Dutch universities in the European University Association, member of the Health Council of the Netherlands and member of the steering group of the Holland Particle Therapy Centre (HollandPTC).
Nuclear reactor physics
Tim van der Hagen has been a researcher in nuclear reactor physics since 1985, with emphasis on the interaction between neutronics and thermal hydraulics, innovative reactor concepts, stability monitoring, signal analysis and multi-phase flows. He is author and co-author of over 200 publications in scientific journals and conference proceedings.
