Top speakers at the first conference Health Science & Technology
05 April 2007 by TNWToday | M&CPress announcement - Prof. James Muller, head of the American Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology (CIMIT), and also renowned for sharing the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize, and Prof. Dr Dinko Valerio, founder of Crucell and Galapagos Genomics, are the keynote speakers in the first Health Science & Technology conference, to be held in Delft on Monday 23 April 2007.
Health Science & Technology (HST) is a collaborative venture between TU Delft (department of IST), Leiden University, Leiden University Medical Centre, Erasmus University Rotterdam and Erasmus Medical Centre. HST focuses on integrating the technological, biological and medical disciplines as exercised in Leiden, Rotterdam and Delft. Combining these disciplines holds the potential of leading to pioneering discoveries in new diagnostics and therapies, ultimately contributing to better healthcare and increasing economic activity.
Conference
The first HST conference offers scientists, doctors, technologists and policy-makers the opportunity to exchange interests, to identify collaboration opportunities and to establish contacts with industrial partners.
At the same time the HST objectives will be presented, along with a recently submitted HST research proposal on ‘Heart in 3D’, and a new HST research fund. Several short workshops will enable researchers to discuss the interpretation of the various HST working areas further.
