Science Day at Biotechnology and Botanical Garden on 25 October
27 October 2009 by M&C TNW/BTDelft’s annual Science Day was held on Sunday 25 October. People of all ages were able to learn about technology and science at five different locations, including TU Delft. The Biotechnology department and the Botanical Garden opened their doors and welcomed over 1700 visitors on this sunny day.
Workshops
Outside, visitors could participate in various workshops (e.g. how to make a satellite camera), buy technology-based toys and see a real steam train in action. There was also a murder game and a lesson on how to extract DNA from kiwi fruit. Inside, visitors could see light-emitting bacteria, look at organisms under the microscope, undergo a hand-washing test and children could enjoy playing in the fun lab by e.g. making hair gel.
Volunteers
In short, a day packed with activities which could not have taken place without the help of a large group of enthusiastic volunteers who made the day a great success!
