Raoul Bino leaving TU Delft
29 April 2010 by M&CRaoul Bino, dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, will be leaving TU Delft on 1 June 2010. For the coming period, Professor Tim van der Hagen will act as dean of Applied Sciences. Bino will return to Wageningen University to become director of the Food Sciences Group.
“Raoul Bino has always remained closely involved with Wageningen University, and as it turned out, his heart was still there. We regret his leaving so soon, but it goes without saying that we respect his decision”, according to president of the Executive Board Dirk Jan van den Berg. In view of the current challenges the faculty of Applied Sciences is also facing, the search for a successor will start soon.
In 1986, Raoul Bino obtained his doctoral degree from Wageningen University, where he was appointed Professor Extraordinary in Plant Metabolomics in 2002. He was General Director of the Plant Sciences Group in Wageningen University and Research Centre from 2006 until his appointment as dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at TU Delft in September 2009.
