22 June 2007 by TNWToday | Astrid Hoetmer

Linda Koop and Astrid Hoetmer, students on the Master’s programme in Chemical Engineering, have won first prize in the YES!Delft competition for the best innovative idea and business plan.

During their Conceptual Product Design project, the Master’s students of Chemical Engineering designed an energy unit that produces biogas from biological waste. The unit is innovative because it has been designed for domestic use and successfully integrates various technical components. The unit can be connected to a central-heating system or boiler in the home, and can reduce gas consumption by 15% per year.

Linda and Astrid presented their business plan to a jury of experienced entrepreneurs and professionals at the Meisjeshuis in Delft, and it was chosen as the winning entry. The prize of € 1,500 was awarded for the Writing a Business Plan competition, launched by YES!Delft in cooperation with Roland Berger Strategy Consultants.
