ImPhys at world renowned ‘image’ gallery!

21 April 2017 by Webmaster ImPhys

ImPhys PhD student Tom Callewaert is imaging famous paintings at the Gallery of Honour of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam with optical coherence tomography. In a collaboration between 3mE (Joris Dik) and ImPhys (Jeroen Kalkman) Callewaert is studying thin varnish layers on Rembrandts’ famous Jewish bride painting to assess where restorations took place and where original varnish layers are still present. On the image you can see our ultrahigh resolution OCT in live action at the museum.
